5 Reasons You Should Rent a Beach Hut This Summer
The idea of a staycation has become more and more popular of late, which means that families and couples are looking for the perfect UK beaches to spend their summer holidays at. The good news is that there are many fantastic beaches for you to consider.
One of the things that I can highly recommend when it comes to spending a day at the seaside (even if it’s not Mersea Island) is hiring a beach hut.
These do come at a cost, which can vary depending on where and which beach you are hiring a hut at in the UK, but we certainly think they are worth the investment to upgrade your seaside experience.
To show you why we have put together some of the main reasons we think it’s worthwhile to rent a mersea island beach hut for your day out at the seaside this summer…..
You should you hire a beach hut so you have a base for the day.
If you want to maximise the time spent at the beach, then a beach hut might be an excellent idea for you. It gives you a base for the day, and means you can come and go more easily. If you have older kids, they can head down to the water or go for a wander, while you relax at the hut. Likewise, if your kids are a little younger – a beach hut is perfect for a little midday nap. Take the travel cot, and you can still enjoy the sunshine while the little ones sleep. Not only this, but if you come to the coast or on holiday en-masse, it’s a great place to base yourselves as a group. One of the things I love most about a beach hut holiday with friends is the flexibility of each families routines. Have the hut as the meeting point or socialising place - but also have the freedom to each do different things with your day (like go for a walk, or head into the village). It enables the group to spend the day or week together, whilst also giving each family freedom to come and go as they please.
You should you hire a beach hut for easy storage and less sandy sandwiches
It is also a great place to keep your belongings in so that you don’t have to worry about them should you decide to take a dip, do some paddle boarding or take a coastal walk. Renting a hut for more than one day also means you can leave your beach stuff there overnight. One great thing about a beach hut rental is using the small kitchen space to make yourself some food and to store your drinks. You can pack a picnic and serve it without it getting sandy! The majority of huts come with a small gas stove that allows you to fry up some bacon for breakfast, or boil up a kettle for a cup of tea. Bringing your own food and drink and hiring a beach hut can end up being a really cost effective way to spend the day at the beach for large families. This is one of the reasons we decided to buy The Little Beach House Mersea. Even though it’s front row, you can park directly behind the hut – so it’s easy to bring your own supplies and carry them into the hut. But if you do decide to get food on site instead, there is a fish & chip café and a brand new bar within a one minute walk, or you can arrange to have seafood platters, oysters or afternoon tea delivered.
You should you hire a beach hut so you can cosy up indoors if it starts to get cold
The only negative about the British weather is that you don’t always know if it will be kind to you. One minute, things are bright, sunny and warm, and the next, things look a little cloudy. Having a beach hut means you can hide away and get warm should things cool off a bit. Equally, if you want to escape from lots of sunshine, then a beach hut is a great place to get some shade during the hottest points of the day.
You should you hire a beach hut so you can get changed in comfort
I applaud you if you are brave enough to take a dip in the great british sea! Trying to get changed afterwards wrapped in a soggy sandy towel though isn’t exactly fun and neither is trying to find a clean place to get changed or having to constantly keep running back to the holiday rental. Hiring a beach hut means having a private place to get changed, slap on some sun cream and rest assured that your ‘dry clothes’ are going to stay dry and sand free!
You should you hire a beach hut because it’s a brilliant place for a celebration
It’s not always the first place people think of to celebrate a birthday, or a baby shower, or a anniversary, but it certainly is one of the best and economical. If you’re lucky enough to have a summer birthday, then a day at the seaside in a beach hut with your closest friends is really magical. Set up the BBQ, bring your own booze and just relax. A day at a beach hut is also a wonderful surprise present, and you can also purchase gift vouchers for some huts to give as a present.
For all the reasons above, when I started designing The Little Beach House Mersea, I wanted to create a beach hut that you could just turn up to, without needing to bring anything. Having spent many years curating the “ultimate seaside packing list” – which always included the frilliest of parasols and comfy deck chairs for me and a massive bag of seaside toys for the kids – I’m so delighted to be able to share and create a luxury beach hut experience for all of our amazing hut guests.
So as you can see, there are so many reasons that you should hire a beach hut. So, what are you waiting for?
